The Meal Service Timeline
Lunch: 10:30AM – 1:30pm
Dinner: 3:30 – 6:30pm
At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City, families spend long days coming and going from the hospital and often have little time or energy to prepare a meal.
Your gift of a warm plate of food or an individually packaged meal allows the parents and children staying at RMHC-KC to enjoy freshly prepared food anytime!
PREP Arrival: Lunch 10:30AM / Dinner 3:30PM
Arrival time is flexible! Need more time to prepare? Just ask to come earlier!
All food must be prepared in our kitchens.
Plan to bring all of the ingredients required for your menu.
Our kitchens are fully stocked with basic supplies.
PLATE Serve: Lunch 12:30PM – 1:00 PM / Dinner 5:30PM – 6:00PM
We advertise a 5:30pm serve time to families.
We serve cafeteria-style!
As families move through the line, volunteers add to the plate or to-go container.
Pro-tip: Plate as you see each family arrive!
PACK Start “Wrapping Up” Lunch 1:00PM / Dinner 6:00PM
As the “Plating” time ends or you see fewer families -package ALL remaining food into individual portions/containers.
We’ll provide various sized containers, baggies, foil, and plastic wrap!
Packing tip! Pack as if it is takeout that you’d want to enjoy 12 hours later! (Everything does not need to be in the same container.)
Label all containers with today’s date and the meal inside.
Please do not leave behind large containers of food on the counters or in the fridges.
